About Us

-With over 20 years of experience and being around horses her whole life, Elly Bates has a great understanding of riding and training with the ability to really listen to the horse and bring out the best in them. In lessons, Elly wants the best for her students and will push them to better themselves without making them feel nervous, she teaches lessons from beginners to advanced riders. Elly rides at the prelim level with her horse Pokey, a 21 year old OTTB and is bringing her young OTTB Dough up the levels in eventing. Elly is also working on ICP!

-Barry Bates is the man behind the scenes, making sure the barn runs smoothly and that all the horses are well taken care of. He pays special attention to each and every horse, knowing all their habits and what they like in their day to day life.

-Ashley Mennenga is often found working at the barn most days, feeding and riding and is also the person behind all the social media posts. With 20 years of riding experience, Ashley also helps with training rides, sale ads and giving lessons to beginners to intermediate riders. Ashley is competing at the BN level with her lease horse Jake. She also enjoys her time with her two retired horses.

-Brad Hall is a ICP level lll instructor who comes to the barn often to teach clinics. Brad grew up riding in Pony Club and has taught all levels of eventing up to the 3* level. Both Elly and Ashley have been taking lessons with Brad for years and includes what they have learned from him into their lessons and training rides.
